I am an Associate Professor at the Institute of Statistics, School of Economics and Administration, Universidad de la República (UdelaR), where I teach Survey Sampling and Weighting, Data Science, and Introduction to Statistical Methods in the Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics. Since 2020 I am the Director of Methodology, Research, and Projects at the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of Uruguay.

I have extensive experience in the design and implementation of statistical methodologies for official surveys, and in the production of statistical information from administrative data and other alternative sources. My research focuses on design-based inference and machine-learning-assisted estimators for finite populations, inference from non-probability samples, and small-area estimation. I am the author of the R package weightflow, which brings these ideas together in a declarative tool for staged survey weighting and variance estimation.
